The Beauty of Photography

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

Love To Shoot

The hours spent, the patience needed to capture something that evokes emotion, the perfect shot with the wrong settings, the challenges that come with capturing the moment. These are the things that allow something like photography to be loved. To be art. There is a calmness when looking for the perfect shot. There is a knowing when you capture it. That is the love. That is the high that keeps me coming back for more.

The greats weren’t great because they could paint, the greats were great because they paint a lot.”

Animal Gallery

The Animals gallery shows all manner of animals, from insects to giraffes, but you may notice my favorite subject is birds. Although my images represent all different types of birds, the ones that speak to me the most are birds of prey. My love of bird photography gave rise to In Flight Photography. This is by far the largest gallery. I hope you enjoy!

Landscapes Gallery

The Landscapes gallery shows images of natural environments, from the ocean to the springs to a single flower. These images remind me to breathe. To take a moment. Not just to smell the roses but to visually explore the details of my surroundings.

Man Made Beauty Gallery

Although most consider the nature photography genre to include only the types of images in my animals or landscapes gallery, there is natural beauty in man made things as well. The placement of an ornament. The artistry of a spiral staircase. The weathering of paint on wood. These things speak to our souls as much as the animal or the flower, we just have to often listen more closely.
